Juhani Aho
Juhani Aho is the pen name of the first professional and most famous writer from Finland. He was born in 1861 and wrote short stories and novels.
In 1880 Aho went to the University of Helsinki, where he studied Latin and Greek until 1884 but he left with no degree. He then began to work as a journalist. In 1891 Aho married an artist, Venny Soldan-Brofeldt Aho, and had two daughters with her as well as a son with Venny’s sister. He died in Helsinki in 1921.
